Code of Conduct

Higher Bebington Junior School
Code of Conduct for Parents/Carers and Visitors

At Higher Bebington Junior School, we are very fortunate to have supportive and friendly parents and carers. Our parents and carers recognise that educating children is a process that involves a partnership between home and school and understands the importance of a good working relationship to equip children with the necessary skills for adulthood.

For these reasons, we welcome and encourage parents/carers to participate fully in school life. The purpose of this code of conduct is to provide all parents, carers and visitors with the expected conduct so that we can work together to ensure a safe and positive school environment for our children.

Respect and concern for others and their rights

We expect parents, carers and visitors to show respect and concern for others by:

  • Supporting the respectful ethos of our school by setting a good example in their own speech and behaviour towards all members of our school community;

  • Working together with teachers for the benefit of children. This includes approaching the school to resolve any issues of concern and to discuss and clarify specific events in order to bring about a positive solution;

  • Respecting our learning environment (both in school and off site);

  • Reinforcing the school’s policy on Behaviour;

  • Parking with consideration and respect for others when delivering and collecting children from school.

In order to support a peaceful and safe school environment, the school cannot tolerate:

  • Disruptive behaviour which interferes with the operation of a classroom, an office area or any other parts of the school grounds;

  • Using loud and/or offensive language or displaying temper;

  • Threatening harm or the use of physical aggression towards another child or adult;

  • Abusive or threatening emails, phone calls or social network messages;

  • Defamatory, offensive or derogatory comments regarding school or any pupil/staff member, at the school in person or via any forms of communication.

  • Any concerns you may have about the school must be made through the appropriate channels by speaking to the class teacher, the Headteacher or chair of Governors, so they can be dealt with fairly, appropriately and effectively for all concerned.

Should any of the above behaviour occur on school premises, the school may feel it necessary to contact the appropriate authorities and if necessary, remove the right for the offending adult(s) to enter the school grounds or limit methods of contact with the school. We trust parents, carers and visitors will assist our school with the implementation of this code of conduct and thank you for your continuing support. We would expect that parents and carers would make all persons responsible for collecting their child aware of this code.
