Principles of Assessment
'Assessment is at the heart of teaching and learning'
To share learning goals with pupils and actively involve them in their own learning through next steps which focus on specific tangible objectives, in order to improve and become independent learners
Assessment feedback to pupils should inspire greater effort and belief that, through hard work and practice, more can be achieved
Assessment objectives set high expectations for learners
Assessment embodies, through objective criteria, a pathway of progress and development for every child
Assessment is honest and judgements are moderated to ensure accuracy. Achievement is placed in context against nationally standarised criteria and expected standards
Our assessment systems allow meaningful tracking of pupils towards end of key stage expectations of the curriculum, including regular feedback to parents, governors and external agencies
It is inclusive of all abilities, giving early recognition of pupils who are falling behind and those who are excelling, in order to plan and deploy resources effectively
Assessment is free from bias and reliable
