House Teams and House Captains

Higher Bebington Junior School
House Teams and House Captains

 As each child arrives at our school, they become a member of a ‘House’ group named after the four patron saints:

  • St.George (Red)

  • St. Andrew (Blue)

  • St. David (Yellow)

  • St.Patrick. (Green)

Each term, 12 children are elected by Year 6 pupils to represent their school house as the House Captains (one representative for each house in each class). Their photo is on display as part of our Pupil Leadership Team.

At Higher Bebington Junior School, the children are rewarded throughout the day with house points for displaying the school behaviour values and characteristics. This might be within lessons, for homework, on the playground or around school. One, two or three house points are awarded. House Point charts are displayed with the classroom for children to add their House Points straight on to. This shows an instant sense of achievement.

Throughout the year the children hold the opportunity to compete together within their houses through a variety of inter-house activities (these can be in year groups or with their buddies). These can range across sporting, STEM and creative activities.

At the end of term, the house that has collect the most house points are given a special end of term treat and can come in non-school uniform.

Our aim is to give every child in each house, and those who take positions of responsibility, the following:

  • A sense of belonging;

  • Positive role models from within their peer group;

  • A sense of achievement outside the classroom;

  • Fun and excitement through competition;

  • Curiosity, creativity, challenge and character;

  • Leadership;

  • Individual and collective responsibility;

  • The confidence to be bold, take action and develop a spirit of adventure;

  • The development of communication skills, flexibility and resilience.
